Training at Safehouse
Safehouse equipment is designed, manufactured and maintained to the highest possible standard but a fundamental part of safe and productive working is the training and competency of the operatives delivering the safe work process.
Our Safehouse training provides operatives with the core knowledge and understanding of how to use equipment safely and to manage habitat projects. Our Training Passport provides a four level pathway which develops and documents competency at each level.
This Training Passport delivers training supported by practical testing, documented evidence of site based experience and periodic classroom re-assessment. This route to competency is based on operatives achieving and demonstrating proficiency at each training Level.
Training is supported by our training manual, our product guide and our standard operating procedures. Our standardised Training Passport is delivered across our global locations and can be used by clients to verify the operatives’ training level and competency.
The Habitat Awareness course is designed to provide clients, operators, contractor and health and safety staff with a practical knowledge of the use of habitats and engineered protection systems when working in controlled zones. For those involved in the planning, design, maintenance and safety of habitat projects, the course will provide the knowledge required to maintain production, safely.
Habitat Technician Passport
The Habitat Technician Passport provides a certified control process that will train operatives, measure their competence and allow them to progress through a four stage process that will require them to demonstrate their competence by technical assessment and work place evidence of their experience.
Only those with the required skill and proven competency to deliver habitats in a safe, practical and professional manner will attain the Habitat Technician Passport. This ensures a consistent skill level of operative internationally.
Level 1 – Habitat Basics
The Habitat Basics course will provide an overview of the skills required to successfully plan a site survey, habitat design, construction and management of project. This basics course will provide operatives with an overview to let them progress to the Level 2 – Habitat Builder, with a secure knowledge of the fundamental principles of habitat use.
Level 2 – Habitat Builder
The Habitat Builder course will train operatives in the skills of building a habitat by establishing the pre-build plan, habitat panel selection and use, overcoming obstructions and penetrations, sealing the habitat and building the door airlock. Operatives who pass this Level 2 course can build habitats under the supervision of a Level 3 or Level 4 qualified person.
Level 3 – Habitat Technician
The Habitat Technician course will train operatives in the pressurisation equipment, attaching the ducting, commissioning, condition and monitoring, handover, daily safety checks, integrity watch, sign off and deconstruct. This skilled technician will be capable of managing and delivering habitat projects safely and working with clients and contractors to modify the design as the project develops.
Level 4 – Habitat Supervisor
The Habitat Supervisor course is based on achieving Level 3 and providing work based evidence of experience in delivering multiple habitat projects. You will demonstrate a high skill level and be capable of delivering all applications, managing multiple sites, managing a workforce and planning with the client. You will require additional certification in Gas Detection, Working Safely at Height, Confined Space and IOSH.
